Harley Spinning Off MV Agusta Unit

  • October 16, 2009
Harley-Davidson is focusing on Harley-Davidson. Among other things, the Milwaukee motorcycle giant will spin off its MV Agusta unit and discontinue the Buell product line. Buell is a niche brand of sport bikes designed by former H-D designer.

"Our objective in acquiring MV Agusta last year was primarily to expand our presence in Europe, and was a recognition of MV Agusta's proud legacy. While growth in Europe and other global markets remains highly important to us, we believe that focusing our efforts on the Harley-Davidson brand is the optimal path to sustainable growth," said Matt Levatich, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson Motor Co., in a statement.

Harley-Davidson says it will now begin actively looking for a buyer for MV Agusta to continue along the development of the brand as an outstanding manufacturer of premium, Italian performance motorcycles.--Karl Greenberg

OK, so... how many luxury brands are going to get banged around in this economic climate? Look at the past 10 years. LandRover, Lotus, Lamborghini, Bentley, RR.....

Who should buy MV? A count? A prince? (if you don't get this part, do some history on the founders of MV agusta)
