Kroger says it will offer pet insurance -- a $9.95 per month "accident only" policy -- in the checkout aisles of more than 2,400 of its supermarkets. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based supermarket chain says
the insurance, provided by its Kroger Personal Finance unit, is intended to appeal to the 62% of U.S. households with pets, especially the 70% of those with more than one animal. The company estimates
the pet insurance market to be $328 million this year, while Americans shelled out $11 billion in vet bills.
