Volkswagen Gets Karmann, But Don't Expect A Ghia

  • November 23, 2009
Remember the Karmann Ghia? It's not coming back. But the company, which has built many VW cars in the past, is selling some assets to Volkswagen AG, per The Detroit Bureau, an auto news site. The Wolfsburg, Germany-based VW said it will create a new subsidiary to build a new car model starting in 2011.

VW said Karmann has extensive experience in the production of small cars, which it could access as needed, but that it first has to hold final negotiations with Karmann shareholders on the deal.
