Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) has come out in favor of the FCC's request for more time to complete its broadband plan. The agency says it needs more time to develop a
national broadband plan to ensure all Americans have access. It has an additional four weeks to complete; the original date was Feb. 17.
According to sources, Senator Kay Bailey
Hutchison (R-Tex.) ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee agreed with the delay. Robert Quinn, AT&T's senior vice president of federal and regulatory affairs, called it a reasonable request
and gave his support. "The most important thing is getting this right, not meeting a deadline," Quinn said.
