ABC Interactive (ABCi), an auditor of online media, has unveiled a proprietary new service designed to spotlight repetitive spider and robot activity that tends to evade identification and inflate
advertiser costs. The new service, which augments the recently released ABCi/Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) spider and robot master list, examines individual websites to pinpoint recurring usage
patterns that - to the untrained eye - are all but indistinguishable from legitimate user activity. Online spider and robot activity occurs when a computer is programmed to conduct continuous content
searches on specific webpages.
