Jamba And PTA Team To Create Fruit Smoothie

  • March 11, 2010
Jamba Juice has introduced Five Fruit Frenzy, a smoothie developed in conjunction with the National PTA as a means of helping young people get their daily servings of fruit.

The smoothie, a blend of blueberries, strawberries, bananas, peaches and mangos, has no added sugar.

The beverage will be available through the Jamba School Lunch Program, which makes Jamba's products available to schools at fixed and reduced prices, as well as at all Jamba retail locations.

Jamba has an ongoing relationship with National PTA, including mutual support of the government's "Next Move" program aimed at educating parents, families and communities about addressing the childhood obesity problem.

Last November, the chain created a PTA School Appreciation Card. A portion of each purchase made with the card at Jamba outlets is donated to local PTA's and National PTA.

Jamba has set a goal of raising up to $1 million to support health, wellness and physical activity initiatives in schools. Nearly 1,500 schools have signed up to participate in the program. --Karlene Lukovitz
