NBC Sports Shuffles Exec Deck

Kevin Monaghan, SVP of business development for NBC Sports, is taking on the additional role of managing director of NBC Sports Digital Media, and will now oversee all digital media initiatives for NBC Sports, including NBCSports.com, ProFootballTalk.com and Rotoworld.com.

"He always keeps a keen eye on the future and has led us into many highly profitable ventures," Gary Zenkel, EVP of strategic partnerships at NBC Sports, said of Monaghan.

The move is part of a large executive shuffle at NBC Sports, which has Perkins Miller -- who led NBC Sports Digital for the last four years -- moving over to the position of COO of Universal Sports -- a partnership between NBC Sports and InterMedia Partners. Miller will continue to lead all digital efforts for NBC Olympics, according to the company.

Meanwhile, Rick Cordella, general manager of NBC Sports Digital, has been promoted to vice president/general manager, reporting to Monaghan, who will run the day-to-day operations of NBC Sports Digital.

NBC Sports and Olympics mobile and digital distribution initiatives will still be led by Hayle Chun, who will report to Cordella in Sports, and Zenkel in Olympics.

Rick Wolf will continue to lead business development for NBC Sports Digital, and Tom Seeley will continue to direct editorial along with his sales and broadcast integration responsibilities, while Eric Black will be charged with technology and Web operations. Wolf, Seeley and Black will all report to Cordella.

Monaghan -- who was named SVP of business development for NBC Universal Sports & Olympics in late 2007 -- will continue to report to Ken Schanzer, president of NBC Sports on NBC Sports business, and to Zenkel on all digital initiatives.

From 1999 through 2007, Monaghan served as vice president of business Development at NBC Sports. During this time he was credited with the creation of NBC Sports Ventures, the business development unit for NBC Sports.

Cordella served as general manager of NBC Sports Digital since 2009 and was credited with the creation of NBC Sports Digital's partnership with ProFootballTalk.com, and its companion site, CollegeFootballtalk.com.

As part of the broader shift announced Monday, David Sternberg, former EVP and COO of Emerging Networks for Fox Cable Networks, has been named CEO of Universal Sports.
