Hulu's long-speculated test of a paid-subscription model for premium online video is imminent, according to a report in the
Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources said to have been briefed on the plans. The report said
the service would initially be previewed only to invited users, who would pay a monthly fee of about $10 to access premium video programming, and the option of watching it on devices such as Apple's
iPad.
