Coda To Launch Electric Car In Hawaii

  • September 3, 2010

Nissan's Leaf will be the first mass market fully electric car in the U.S., but another company will be launching its electric car as well.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Coda Automotive, a privately held American company, said it will start selling its Coda Sedan to consumers and fleet customers in Hawaii in the third quarter of 2011.

According to the company, limited deliveries will begin at the end of 2010.

The car is a four-door, five-passenger vehicle with a proprietary electric drive system, per Coda, which says the Lithium-ion battery system under the hood delivers 40% more usable energy than any electric vehicle in its class.
