Quaker Chewy, Artists Aid After-School Programs

  • September 23, 2010
Jordin Sparks has become the latest recording artist to join Quaker Chewy Granola Bars' "Afterschool Rocks" campaign, which in partnership with the nonprofit Afterschool Alliance raises awareness of and support for after-school programs.

Jordin's music will be represented in the music library featured on QuakerOats.com/afterschoolrocks, which offers downloads of more than 250 songs from more than 70 kid-popular artists, such as Gloriana and Jason Derulo. The site also offers information about how kids can get involved in after-school programs.

Parents can get codes for two free song downloads from the music library by purchasing specially marked boxes of Quaker Chewy Granola Bars.

The campaign will help more than 25,000 after-school programs nationwide to get needed resources, according to Quaker, which also provides the programs with the granola bars (90 calories, one serving of whole grain) as snacks.

According to the Afterschool Alliance, 8.4 million children participate in after-school programs, but more than 15 million are alone and unsupervised after the school day ends due to a lack of affordable programs. The Alliance is dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to quality programs, especially in underserved communities.
