Cathay Pacific Asks For Dessert Creations

  • November 2, 2010
Cathay Pacific is launching its "The Art of Dessert" contest on its U.S. and Canadian Facebook pages.

To participate, Cathay is asking people to create an Asian-inspired dessert and submit a photo and recipe. The winner will receive two business class tickets to Hong Kong, and the chosen dessert will be served in-flight for a month in business class on Cathay Pacific.

Cathay has assembled a panel of top "foodie" judges including author and food journalist Andrea Nguyen and pastry chef Pichet Ong. Peter Ho, regional catering manager and an employee for Cathay Pacific North America for the last 43 years, will also serve as a judge. In addition to the guest judges, anyone can vote or "like" their favorite dessert on Facebook.

The competition runs through Nov. 16 for dessert submissions, and Nov. 19 for voting. The program was developed to complement Cathay Pacific's "People and Service" ad campaign, which launched internationally earlier this year.

Developed with the San Francisco office of McCann Erickson, the contest is off to a strong start, spurring 173% in Cathay Pacific's U.S. Facebook fan base since the Oct. 16 launch, and 208% in the company's Canadian Facebook fan base.--Tanya Irwin
