Whole Foods Market says it is joining in Share Our Strength's new No Kid Hungry Campaign, an effort aimed at ending childhood hunger in America by 2015.

Starting today and through the end of December, American Express will donate 10 cents for any purchase made with an American Express card, to generate a minimum donation of $250,000, and a maximum gift of $500,000.

The Austin, Tex.-based retailer says it will donate $1 for the first 15,000 customers who take the No Kid Hungry pledge, and $1 for each gift card purchased online. An estimated 17 million American kids Share Our Strength estimates that nearly 17 million children kids in the U.S. need help getting adequate nutrition.
