Samsung Will Make Televisions With Google's Software

Samsung Electronics will make an announcement in January that it is introducing Internet-enabled TVs using Google software. Internet-enabled TVs let viewers buy third-party video games and programs that do anything from forecast the weather to measure the string tension of a tennis racket, Jun Yang reports.

Details of the plan have yet to be decided, according to Yoon Boo Keun, head of Samsung's TV business, but he says the company is "open" to using Intel's chips.

Sony began offering Internet-enabled TVs in the U.S. last month, and Apple has been expanding its iTunes model to television.
