Ziff Davis, a technology media company, named Steven Horowitz chief operating officer. In his new post, Horowitz will handle all product, editorial, technology and audience across the company's Web and mobile properties.

Horowitz has also held positions at AOL, Yahoo, BMG Direct and Turner Broadcasting Systems leading business and sales strategy for classified and local markets and launching new vertical channels.

Ziff Davis reaches more than 9 million in-market buyers and influencers every month. Ziff Davis sites include PCMag.com, ExtremeTech, GearLog, CrankyGeeks, Smart Device Central and TechSaver.com.

Separately, Meredith Local Media Group promoted Tom Cox to vice president of digital sales and Steve Schwaid to vice president of digital content. Both moves underscore Meredith's focus on digital and its mobile news service.
