Triton Radio, Current Partner For E-Commerce Push

While news reports might leave the impression that there is only one group discount player out there, Groupon has plenty of competitors. And these companies are aggressively pursuing strategies to scale up their operations. For example, this week saw Deal Current, which operates a "daily deal" software platform, partnering with Triton Digital Media to bring daily e-commerce deals to Triton's roughly 750 radio station clients -- aiming to create the "Groupon of Radio."

Under the terms of the partnership, Deal Current will provide software and sales training, while Triton will help stations implement the deals with local and national retail and service brands.

The radio station clients will keep 95% of the revenues from their end of the deal. The terms of these deals will vary regarding the revenue split with participating retail and service partners.

Deal Current says it already powers daily deal Web sites in 66 markets for newspapers and radio stations, including American Consolidated Media, Journal Broadcast Group, Buffalo News and Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It also claims to have 150 more daily deal sites under contract to launch by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

Triton will offer the Deal Current discount service to radio station clients as an optional part of Triton Loyalty's "StickyFish" and Fan Club products, a points-based loyalty program that rewards listeners for engaging with radio stations and their advertisers.
