Benson To Time Warner As CCO For Global Media Group

Michael--Benson

Former ABC top marketing executive Mike Benson has joined Time Warner as chief creative officer for its Global Media Group, which looks to craft marketing deals across multiple company properties. Benson departed ABC after 12 years last fall, as Paul Lee took over as entertainment chief.

Time Warner has also promoted Kristen O'Hara to CMO of the Global Media Group, which acts as a sort of consultancy for clients wanting to tap the company's assets. The two executives will assume the role held by Mark D'Arcy, who moved to Facebook, and will report to Gary Ginsberg, executive vice president for corporate marketing and communications.

"([Mike's] known for his innovation and creativity in the entertainment industry and his broad experience makes him perfectly suited for our group," Ginsberg stated.

Benson departed as co-chief of ABC's marketing operations in 2010 after joining ABC in 1998 in a senior vice president role. He had overseen all marketing for ABC's prime time and late-night shows, including the launch of "Modern Family," as well as "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy."

Before ABC, Benson held a senior vice president role in promotion and program planning at MTV Networks.

O'Hara has been with the GMG for seven years and was a senior vice president and managing director, helping craft campaigns at Time Warner for Unilever, L'Oreal and Johnson & Johnson, among others.
