Mag+ Powers Subscriptions, iOS5 Support
Sep 16, 2011, 4:58 PM
Mag+, the tablet publishing platform, has added two key new features: the option to offer subscriptions and support for Apple's upcoming iOS5 platform. Through the Mag+ subscription API, publishers will be able to add tablet editions to their existing subscription system, allowing them to control which issues users are entitled to.
This will allow publishers to sell digital subscriptions on their own sites, keeping 100% of the revenue. They'll also be able to sell print and digital bundles on their sites, give print subscribers free access to digital editions, and offer special promotions. With iOS5 will come Newsstand, an iBooks-like app for the iPad that allows users to keep all their magazine and newspaper subscriptions in one place. Tablet publications created with Mag+ will be compatible with Newsstand.--Mark Walsh
