ABC Puts 'Revenge,' 'Once Upon A Time' Online

Revenge

Looking to give a promotional push to two promising series, ABC will make their entire libraries available online over the next month.

All episodes of new first-season shows “Once Upon A Time” and “Revenge” will be accessible on ABC.com or through the network’s iPad player.

A year ago, the move would hardly have made headlines, but networks are increasingly cutting down on the number of episodes they are making available at once, outside some sort of paywall.

Also, perhaps thanks to Netflix “marathoning," viewing several episodes at once is gaining in popularity.

ABC.com usually makes an episode available the day after debut and offers up to five episodes at once. “Once Upon A Time” is a top-20 hit, averaging a 4.4 in adults 18-to-49 by one measure, while “Revenge” with a 3.4 is outperforming some reliable performers, such as CBS’ “The Mentalist” and “CSI: Miami.”

Karin Gilford, an ABC senior vice president, said the aim is to provide a venue to reach “new audiences." New episodes of each show won’t return until the first week of the new year. "Once Upon A Time” is billed as “a modern fairytale,” while “Revenge" is a drama about a woman returning to the Hamptons with a vendetta.
