Verizon, NHL Update GameCenter App

Verizon Wireless will allow hockey fans for the first time to stream programming from the National Hockey League through an updated app offering including live look-ins, real-time scores, team press conferences, and expert analysis.

The updated Verizon edition of the NHL GameCenter Premium app will include a “Star Cam” feed, show bonus camera angles from NBC broadcasts, “Inside the Glass” analysis from national network broadcasts, in-game replays not available during live broadcasts on NBC and access to league events such as the NHL Winter Classic, NHL All-Star
Weekend and Stanley Cup Final.

Further, all NHL games that air on NBC are now available to Verizon Wireless customers using both the basic and premium versions of the GameCenter app. Verizon 4G LTE Smartphone and tablet customers will be able to get the new GameCenter app free; other Verizon customers will have to pay $9.99.

Verizon announced the upgraded app in connection with the renewal of its agreement to serve as the official wireless service provider of the NHL and the league’s players association.

Besides exclusive marketing rights in the U.S. as official wireless sponsor, Verizon said it will also will have an extensive media presence on the broadcast, cable, and digital platforms of NBC and NBC Sports Network, including digital promotions on NBCSports.com banners, videos, and live streaming games.
