Zillow Cites Growing Mobile Usage

In announcing fourth-quarter earnings Wednesday, real estate site Zillow highlighted gains in mobile usage that it says have contributed to traffic and revenue growth. In December, for instance, homes were viewed on its Zillow Mobile app nearly 100 million times, or 36 homes per second. In January, that figure increased to 53 homes viewed per second.

The Zillow app is available across all major smartphone platforms including the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. In November, it also launched new apps for the Kindle Fire and iPad. For the fourth quarter, Zillow reported a profit of $900,000 on revenue of $19.9 million, more than double sales during the year-earlier period.
