Future Network to Launch US Mag
Mobile PC will launch with a 200,000-rate base and a cover price of $5.99. The mag's first issue will be 166 pages, with a 32-page pullout devoted to buying notebook computers. Its target audience includes frequent business travelers, business decision-makers and high-end consumers. In a press release, launch publisher Simon Whitcombe (also Future Network's publishing director) said that Mobile PC will be an "evangelist publication" that should quickly evolve into the category's most authoritative voice. "No other computing magazine will be able to deliver this targeted audience in an environment dedicated to mobile computing," he said. "Mobile PC will be the perfect advertising vehicle for any manufacturer or reseller of mobile products or services." Former Fast Company and Inc. publisher Gary Mirkin will serve as the magazine's associate publisher. Other Future Network USA titles include MacAddict and PC Gamer.
