CBS Takes Total Households in Dampened Summer Race

Like it has for most of the season - originals or repeats - CSI once again was the most popular show on broadcast television, helping to score for CBS a win in total ratings in the 46th week of the season.

The Thursday night repeat bested everything else on television for the week ended Sunday, which in its top 25 included 14 repeats, two special sports-related programs and nine unscripted shows, including two new newsmagazines. CBS (5.3/10, 5.66 million) by far led the top 25 with 13 shows, although several (60 Minutes II, Amazing Race 4 and two episodes of Big Brother 4) were first-run. Second-place NBC (4.7/9, 5.01 million) had eight of the top 25, including first-run Who Wants To Marry My Dad, Last Comic Standing and For Love or Money 2.

ABC (4.4/8, 4.68 million) owned the highest-rated original program of the week, the Hall of Fame game that also marked the return of Monday Night Football to ABC. More than 11 million people tuned in to see Green Bay play the Kansas City Chiefs. ABC had three more shows in the top 25, including a pregame show and new editions of 20/20 and Primetime Thursday.

Fox (3.5/6, 3.7 million), UPN (1.7/3, 1.85 million), The WB (1.7, 1.84 million) and Pax (0.6/1, 670,000) had no programs in the top 25 in primetime total households and ratings.

In adults 18-49, NBC (2.7/9, 3.44 million) bested CBS (2.4/8, 3.07 million), ABC (2.3/8, 3.02 million) and Fox (2.3/8, 2.95 million).

  6. CSI: Miami (CBS), 7.3/12, 7.75 million.
  7. Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS), 7.3/12, 7.8 million.
  8. 60 Minutes (CBS), 7.2/15, 7.6 million.
  9. King of Queens (CBS), 6.8/11, 7.22 million.
  10. Who Wants To Marry My Dad? (NBC), 6.4/11, 6.78 million.
