NESN, WBZ Go To Bat For Red Sox
Regional sports network NESN and the CBS local station in Boston have inked a content-sharing deal that includes sports and weather coverage
related to the Boston Red Sox.
Under the arrangement, NESN will offer live pre-game reports for WBZ newscasts, while WBZ meteorologists will make appearances on the sports channel, majority owned by the Red Sox ownership group.
The deal also encompasses the Boston Bruins, whose games are also carried on NESN.
The NESN reports will air on WBZ newscasts at noon and 6 p.m. throughout the season. Also, WBZ sports anchor Dan Roche will be a guest on NESN pre-game Red Sox shows.
WBZ meteorologists will offer the "official forecast” of NESN Red Sox coverage as well as in-game updates during rain delays. Year-round reports will air during NESN’s nightly sports news show.
NESN is in 4 million homes throughout the six New England states. WBZ is owned by CBS Corp.
As it has in many markets, CBS has a local news site in the Boston market that serves as the umbrella Web locale for its combined four TV and radio stations in the DMA.
