Fandango Expands Mobile Ticket program
Fandango has extended its paperless mobile ticketing program to another 1,400 movie screens, more than doubling the total to 2,600 screens. The Mobile Ticket feature in the Fandango app allows users to buy tickets through their mobile phone and scan a barcode at the theater, eliminating the need to wait on line or print out tickets.
The paperless ticket option is now available at 1,300 Cinemark screens and 100 select Regency Theatre screens in addition to the initial group of 1,200 screens across Regal Entertainment Group, Reading Cinemas and Hollywood Theaters. Fandango said 23% of all ticket sales are now driven by mobile transactions, including those where mobile users print out their tickets at home and bring them to the theater.
The company earlier this month announced having the best first quarter results in its 12-year history, with ticket sales up 127% from a year ago.
