NBC Debuts New Comedies Ad-Free
NBC will use dual stunts to give a lift to a pair of new fall comedies: premiering them following Olympic coverage without commercials. “Go On” will debut ad-free Aug. 8
after Olympics coverage at night, while “Animal Practice” will do the same several days later following the Closing Ceremonies broadcast.
Also in a bid to gain traction before the traditional broadcast season opens, reality-competition series “Stars Earn Stripes” will launch the day following the Olympics with a two-hour show from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by the season premiere of “Grimm.”
“The Voice” will begin Sept. 10 after the first Sunday night NFL game on NBC. A night later, “Go On” will debut in its regular time period, followed by the launch of comedy “The New Normal.”
“Animal Practice” makes its regularly scheduled time-period debut on Sept. 26 on the same night as “Law & Order: SVU” returns with a two-hour episode.
“30 Rock” returns for its final run on Oct. 4, while NBC is waiting until Oct. 10 to launch new Dick Wolf drama “Chicago Fire.”
“Go On” stars former “Friends” headliner Matthew Perry, while “Animal Practice” is about a veterinarian and a monkey.
