Bogusky's Back: Buys Into Shop Focused On Buying American

Alex Bogusky, Madison Avenue's favorite poster child for the new creativity, is back in the ad biz, joining Boulder-based pro-America marketing shop Made Movement as an investor and advisor.

Bogusky, who previously was a partner and creative chief of MDC Partners Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, said he would "pretty much invest in any agency" that Made Movement founders Dave Schiff, Scott Prindle and John Kieselhorst -- former CP+B execs -- were part of.

"As its name suggests, Made Movement's focus is on helping companies, brands and consumers participate in the movement toward more domestic manufacturing," the agency said in its announcement this morning, adding: "That mission and focus on social responsibility align with the heart of Bogusky's work. Made and Bogusky are passionate about manufacturing goods domestically not only because it is good for the economy and creates jobs, but also because it tends to result in cleaner and greener manufacturing methods and less exploitation of workers than in developing nations. These are issues about which consumers are increasingly concerned."

Bogusky added that a major focus of the agency would be in marketing brands that have a "smaller carbon footprint and leaner processes," noting: "Red, white and blue is the new green."

An open letter to Alex Bogusky and Made Movement.

I think we can all agree that our country is and has been the leader in producing film, literature and music that has moved, touched and inspired people around the globe. It has been our greatest "goodwill" ambassador and captured the spirit of our nation at its' best and its' worst.

Today, it is under siege, unwittingly at the hands of technology. Great content is what fuels the growth of the internet. One would think that technology would protect this valuable resource and that individuals who are offended by the seemingly unethical actions of banks and Wall Street would see the parallels in illegal downloading, but instead they adopt the "everyone's doing it" rationalization.

If you are sincere about your vision of supporting products made in America, our creative workers need to be at the top of your list.
