'Samsung Nation' Powers Energy Star
Samsung has joined with Energy Star for a month-long promotion on its website in honor of National Energy Awareness Month.
Through the promotion, members of the company’s Samsung Nation (a gamified portion of the company’s website) can earn points and be entered into a sweepstakes to win an Energy Star-certified 32-inch television by taking an Energy Star pledge.
The pledge asks people to make simple changes in their lives, such as choosing to purchase energy efficient products and ensure their homes are well insulated.
“We were looking at ways to help Energy Star, and we felt this was a great way to make members of the community aware of the program,” Matthew Moller, Samsung Electronics America’s director of digital engagement, tells Marketing Daily. Those who take the pledge will get a badge on Samsung nation and will be automatically entered in the sweepstakes.
Samsung began its Samsung Nation program last year as a way to “reward the people who come to our site on an ongoing basis,” Moller says. The community has more than 1.2 million members and the site receives more than 4 million visitors each month.
