I pose that question, because David Verklin asks some tough ones worthy of a good journalist.
He opened the panel he’s moderating with brand marketers at the DPAA’s Digital Media Summit this morning with a pretty good hardball. He threw it at James Cordero, senior director of marketing at Walmart. Asking Cordero why Walmart’s Smart Network has been so successful, Verklin added, “is it because you twist people’s arms and force them to advertise on that network?”
Wow, Verklin asked what most people think, and what people tell me all the time, “off-the-record.”
Cordero’s response, by the way: “No.”
