The Who Backs World Series
During Fox Sports’ coverage of the 2012 World Series, in which the National League’s San Francisco Giants take on the Detroit Tigers, viewers will hear songs by The Who. Via a deal between Fox Sports and Spirit Music, which publishes The Who’s music, the World Series broadcast features a variety of the band’s hits from a lot of albums. “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You” and “Behind Blue Eyes” will air both in their original versions and as re-mixes.
The music tie-in supports a 36-city U.S. tour starting early November in Sunrise, Fla. The band will focus on Quadraphenia, its operatic ode to the mods. “We’re excited to be taking a fresh look at Quadrophenia, and expect this will be a very modern show -- much different from the last tour 15 years ago,” said Pete Townshend.
