Pepsi Intros Fat-Blocking Soda In Japan

  • November 14, 2012

Pepsi this week launched a soft drink in Japan that claims to help reduce fat levels in the body, reports ABC News.

Dubbed “Pepsi Special,” the soft drink contains dextrin, a fiber that distributor Suntory claims helps reduce fat levels in the body.

Pepsi told ABC News that the product is for Japanese market only, which has a unique soft-drink culture (Pepsi already sells exotic varieties like strawberry milk and salty watermelon Pepsi products in Japan, a spokesperson noted).

Kirin, better known for its beer, released its own sugar-free, dextrin soda this summer: the “Mets” cola.

Soda isn't really typically the very first consumable substance that comes to mind when losing weight is topic of discussion. The business claims that this brand new fat-blocking Pepsi drink contains dextrin, a non-digestible starch found in some baked solutions that will supposedly raise the consumer's metabolism and really burn fat.
