The New York Times has named AOL Huffington Post executive Rebecca Howard general manager of video production, a new position, effective February 18. Howard will develop and grow The Times’s video content across all platforms.  She will report jointly to Jill Abramson, executive editor of The New York Times and Denise Warren general manager of NYTimes.com and senior vice president and chief advertising officer for the media company.

Howard will develop The Times's video content across all platforms. Most notably of late, the Web site produced a multi-media account of a group of skiiers caught in an avalanche.  In a statement, Abramson said, "We will rely heavily on Rebecca’s experience in creating engaging and quality content as we expand our excellent video offerings.”

Howard has been head of video development for AOL Huffington Post Media Group since 2010. Previously, Ms. Howard was the Vice President of Production at Fox Digital Studios and a production designer for commercials and feature films.
