Japanese advertising and media
conglomerate Dentsu this morning unveiled some new robots its helping to develop. No, not software bots, the physical kind. The two "humanoid communication robots, which are being developed as part of
Japan's Kibo Robot Project, are named Kirobo and Mirata, which are undoubtedly lost in translation.According to Dentsu's announcement, they "represent hope for the
future," and Kirobo will be sent to the International Space Station in June, while Mirata will remain on Earth.
"They will then take part in the world's first
conversation experiment held between a person and a robot in outer space," Dentsu stated, explaining, "In addition to acting as a backup for Kirobo, Mirata will participate in educational activities
and events that target children here on Earth."
