Electus Debuts New TV Slate

American-Unearthed

Developing fare for the format he knows best, Ben Silverman and Electus -- the multimedia entertainment studio he founded with IAC/InterActiveCorp -- just debuted a new slate of TV programming.

The former NBC Entertainment co-chairman personally helped create several of the shows, including "Bet On Your Baby" -- a game show in which parents predict their kid’s next move to earn money for college -- which is scheduled to run on ABC in April.

Another of Silverman’s co-creations is "Car Lot Rescue," which features auto industry expert Tom Stuker and his adventures trying to repair failing car dealerships. The show is currently airing on Spike TV.

Founded in 2009 by Silverman and Barry Diller's IAC, Electus has sought to differentiate itself with digital-friendly content. Yet, TV remains a key focus for Electus, according to John Pollak, president of Electus International -- the studio’s global distribution arm.

“The company is about creating great content with great characters … and content can start anywhere,” Pollak said on Thursday. “Traditional TV is incredibly lucrative, particularly on the international side,” he added.

Additional shows launching this year include "72 Hours" -- a competition series that drops competing teams of strangers from a helicopter into the wilderness, and is set to premiere in June on TNT.

"America Unearthed" follows forensic geologist Scott Wolter as he reveals that secrets of American history. Originally broadcast on History 2 (H2) , the show was the highest rated program in the network’s history, and has been renewed for two additional seasons.

Another show, "Dog & Beth: On the Hunt," features famous bounty hunters Dog and Beth Chapman, and their fugitive finding escapades.
