Maxus NA: Egan Named Chief Strategy Officer, Leder Runs Digital

Mark-Egan-AMaxus North America, part of WPP’s GroupM, has appointed Mark Egan chief strategy officer, a new position at the agency. The shop also hired a new digital director, Brian Leder, who will report to Egan. Egan reports to Maxus North America CEO Louis Jones.

Egan will be responsible for managing agency disciplines, including communications planning, data management, content development, loyalty programs, multicultural efforts and digital strategy and implementation.

Egan joins Maxus from Havas Digital, where he served as the global head of new business and network development. In that role, he ran global pitches and managed the network’s marketing activities. Earlier, he was with digital shop Organic in San Francisco.

Leder replaces Jon Kaiser, who left the agency a few months back and is now global digital strategy lead on OMD’s PepsiCo account.

Leder will be responsible for all the agency’s digital activities, including supporting and directing digital efforts with client leads, improving and coordinating search marketing efforts, increasing Maxus’ expertise in digital specialties and directing the agency’s digital trading initiative.

Leder most recently worked as global digital director at MediaVest, where he led the development of digital strategy and innovation for such clients as Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Cox Communications. Previously, he worked at Omnicom’s OMD and Yahoo.

The two new executives are based in New York, where Jones is also based.
