Yahoo Confirms Rosen Leaving

Yahoo executive Mickie Rosen, who led the company’s media business since 2011, is leaving the company, effective Sept 1., according a regulatory filing yesterday by the Web giant.

Rosen, who oversaw top properties like Yahoo News, Sports and Finance, as SVP, global media and commerce, was terminated “without cause” and will receive severance benefits under her employment agreement with the company.

A Yahoo spokesperson didn’t provide further detail on her departure, but said in a statement that, “Mickie has made tremendous contributions to Yahoo’s media business over the past two and a half years and we wish her all the best.”

Rosen previously held management positions at News Corp.’s former Fox Interactive Media division and Walt Disney Co. News of her exit from Yahoo, first reported by tech blog AllThingsD Monday, closely followed the company announcing its repurchase of $40 million shares of Yahoo common stock owned by hedge fund Third Point.

Yahoo also said activist investor and Third Point head Daniel Loeb was leaving the board along with two other directors originally nominated by Third Point, which now owns less than 2% of Yahoo stock.
