CBS Regains Top Tuesday Spot

NCIS: LAThe third November Tuesday flipped back to CBS taking over the top spot, narrowly beating NBC. CBS was at a Nielsen preliminary 2.5 rating/7 share, according to its live-plus-same-day viewing data, to NBC’s 2.3/6. The previous week, NBC was just ahead -- a 2.5/7 to CBS’ 2.4/7.

The key difference? NBC’s “The Voice” at 9 p.m. went a bit backwards, a 3.1/8 versus a 3.4/9 the week before. This put “The Voice” at a new low for a fall season Tuesday show.

NBC’s 10 p.m. show “Chicago Fire” also gave up three-tenths of a rating point week to week, down to a 1.9/5. “Biggest Loser” at 8 p.m. slipped one-tenth to a 1.8/5, according to preliminary tallies.

CBS stayed virtually the same across the board for “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Person of Interest,” with “NCIS” being its top Tuesday show coming in at a 3.0/9 and some 19.4 million overall viewers -- the best for any Tuesday night show.

ABC was surely the most improved, tying NBC on the night with a 2.3/6; the week before it was at a 1/5/4. ABC was, however, a bit behind NBC in total average viewers, 8.3 million to 6.9 million. ABC got a lift from the special “David Blaine: Real or Magic” from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., posting a strong 2.5/7.

CW also went with a special as well, the “The iHeartRadio Album Release Party: Lady Gaga,” getting a 0.3/1 and 890,000 total average viewers. For the night, CW was at a 0.6/2 and 1.4 million viewers, down from it 1.1/3 and 2.4 million viewers the week before.

Ahead of CW was Univision and Fox around at the same levels, a 1.5/4 (3.7 million viewers) and a 1.4/4  (3.1 million viewers). A week before Fox was at a 1.4/4 (3.1 million) and Univision, 1.3/4 (3.6 million)
