LAS VEGAS -- TV commercials
for entertainment are finding more links to commerce.
At the Consumer Electronics Show, movie Web site Fandango said its new service will offer movie trailers with fully embedded ticketing
capabilities on Samsung Smart TVs starting in the first quarter of 2014.
Consumers can access and watch movie trailers right from the Movies & TV Shows app and instantly purchase movie
tickets for current and upcoming movies.
In September 2013, Fandango worked with Samsung for its mobile device Galaxy Note 3 integrating showtimes, ticketing, and movie trailers for its
original movie preview show "Weekend Ticket."
Fandango says its app has been downloaded 39 million times on the iPhone and iPad, Android and other platforms. Fandango gets more than 30
million online and mobile visitors each month, according to comScore.
Fandango says last year ticket sales across new technology and mobile platforms accounted for 42% of Fandango's total
Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, stated: "Fandango will be aggregating high-definition movie trailers so that consumers can gain instant access to the content they love,
while offering a simple way to purchase movie tickets in advance."
