The appointment of a long-time GE exec to one of Nielsen's top roles comes only months after GE vet David Calhoun stepped down as CEO of Nielsen. Calhoun, who cut his teeth at GE, in November 2013 joined Blackstone Group -- one of the private equity firms that is a major investor in Nielsen -- but he remains executive chairman of Nielsen.
Nielsen vet Mitch Barns succeeded Calhoun as CEO.
Prior to joining Nielsen, Jackson spent 16 years at GE, where he held senior financial positions in its aviation and plastics businesses, as well as NBC, before GE sold it to Comcast.West, meanwhile, succeeds Mitchell Habib, whom Nielsen stated would “move to the next phase of his career after a transition period.”
