PubMatic Taps Simeone To Lead 'Programmatic Direct' Initiatives

PubMatic, a supply-side platform (SSP), on Monday announced the appointment of Evan Simeone as vice president of programmatic direct, engineering.

It’s a new position at the company and symbolizes PubMatic’s focus on “programmatic direct,” which is a hybrid method of automated/manual trading between buyers and sellers.

The company said Simeone will lead PubMatic’s move into "programmatic direct" trading, and that it will serve as a “complement” to the company’s real-time bidding (RTB) offerings.

Simeone joins PubMatic from Organic Motion, where he served as chief product officer. He was previously chief product officer at Solbright and senior vice president of engineering at Operative.

“I’ve spent the better part of my career focused on automating workflows for leading publishers and understand the value of bringing the efficiency of automated execution to high-value premium inventory,” stated Simeone.

Kirk McDonald, president of PubMatic, stated: “Evan brings just the kind of expertise and engineering talent to PubMatic that we need to extend our … offerings into the programmatic direct arena.”

Simeone will report to Mukul Kumar, co-founder and senior vice president of engineering at PubMatic. He will be based in New York City.
