Giant Spoon Adds Strategists

Independent marketing agency Giant Spoon has hired two senior strategists--Mikael Greenlief and Caleb Smith—the shop disclosed Monday.

The agency was founded last September by Alan Cohen, former President of OMD USA, part of Omnicom, and three former OMD managers. The shop counts among its clients GE, Lincoln, NBC, and Cole Haan among others.

Greenlief most recently served as a media supervisor at GSD&M where he contributed to new business development and helped lead communications planning and strategy for clients including RadioShack, Campbell's and L.L.Bean.

Prior to GSD&M, he was at Red Door Interactive, running the digital media business for Cricket Wireless. Earlier he spent time on the consulting side at J.D. Power & Associates working on digital consumer insights and strategy for brands like Unilever, Citibank, Logitech and HBO.

Smith most recently served as a Senior Social Engagement Strategist at Translation where he worked on State Farm, heading up the brand's day-to-day social strategy. Earlier, he was a Social Media Strategist at OMD Word, working with clients such as Chobani, Toys R Us and Discovery Communications.

Smith reports to John O’Hara, Senior Vice President, Strategy. Greenlief reports to agency co-founders Jon Haber and Marc Simons.
