NBCU Revamps Cable Nets, Berwick Named Head

NBCUniversal has realigned cable networks and top executives in the formation of its new lifestyle group of cable networks. Heading up the group will be Frances Berwick, president, Lifestyle Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

Berwick will add oversight of E! Entertainment and Esquire Network to her current duties at Bravo and Oxygen Media. She will continue to report to Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCU Cable Entertainment.

As part of the realignment, Suzanne Kolb, who has been president of E! Entertainment, is departing after a three-year run as president and nine years overall at the network.

Replacing Kolb will be NBCU veteran Adam Stotsky, who will have the title of general manager of E! Entertainment. He will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the network, in addition to his current role as president of Esquire Network.

Let's trip the light fantastic as NBCU revamps its way into the imaginary world of Lifestyle Networks. NBCU has revamped itself so often that there is no "sole" left on the soft shoe. Of course, the other "soul" was lost over a decade ago. Where's Jeff Drucker where he's needed most. At the CNN Circus, I guess.

I must have been tripping ... Yes, the light fantastic! ... when I mistakenly invoked the name of ASU Physics Professor Jeff Drucker instead Turner's TV Maven, Jeff Zucker. Perhaps CNN reminds me of the nuclear meltdown physics that Jeff Z. mastered at NBC. Forgive me. The concept of a lifestyle network group is just too exciting for me today. Onwards & upwards!
