Honeywell, Mono Sync Up For Lyric Campaign

Home technology has become increasingly high-tech and smart with keyless doors, refrigerators that notify owners when milk is low, and lights that can be controlled via smartphones. Case in point: In June Honeywell introduced Lyric, a home thermostat that shifts to energy-saving mode when a home is empty, and then senses when you are coming home and heats or cools the house to your preferred temperature.

Now, to promote this new device, Honeywell and Minneapolis-based agency mono have launched a new campaign that doesn't emphasize the technology's advances, but rather centers on relevant moments in the consumer’s life.

The campaign -- including digital, mobile, social, print and out-of-home properties -- illustrate moments when Lyric’s technology will be most useful, encouraging people to rethink the possibilities of a smart, money-saving thermostat that offers people the versatility to live their lives spontaneously. Under the campaign's overall concept, creative and channels will be tailored to reach specific consumers.

Those interested in home, do-it-yourself, and lifestyle categories will be targeted with high-impact placements and digital banners on properties such as HGTV, Dwell, Martha Stewart and eHow. Here’s an example.

Airport travelers and daily commuters will be reached via in-flight video, in-flight magazine, digital transit out-of-home media, and video office network. The campaign is also engaged with airport and inflight WiFi sponsorship  with partners Marriott, JetBlue, Gogo Inflight Internet, and Boingo.

Another target demographic for this device is weather followers, so the campaign will align with weather-triggered scenarios via digital banners on The Weather Channel and on video office networks, such as The Wall Street Journal Office Network.

Mono has been working with Honeywell for about a year and a half. In May, the agency launched a national campaign starring Mad Men's John Slattery that introduced Alto, the world’s first WiFi voice-controlled thermostat.
