Programmatic Maintains Strong Presence In 2014 Deloitte Technology Fast 500

Deloitte has released its 2014 Technology Fast 500 list, and like last year, programatic ad technology companies are easy to spot. Also like last year, there are several programmatic or ad tech-related companies in the top 100.

The Fast 500 ranks the fastest-growing tech companies in North America.

Rocket Fuel, which topped last year’s list, is 15th this year. AcuityAds, an ad targeting firm based in Toronto, is ranked 26th. PubMatic isn’t far behind, checking in at number 31.

Rocket Fuel fell under the “software” label on the list, while PubMatic was labeled an “Internet” company. Unsurprisingly, software and Internet companies were the two leaders on the list, with software firms accounting for 48% of the companies on the 2014 Fast 500 and Internet companies making up 16%.

eXelate, a data management platform (DMP), checked in at number 45 and was also under the “Internet” tag. eXelate improved upon its ranking from last year (86th).

Two programmatic video ad platforms -- TubeMogul and BrightRoll -- also made the top 100, with TubeMogul ranking 68th and BrightRoll 81st. Both companies were in the top 100 last year as well, but plenty has changed since then: TubeMogul has gone public and BrightRoll has been acquired by Yahoo.

Millennial Media, another company that was in the top 100 in 2013, ranked 82nd on this year’s list. Seattle-based video ad tech provider Mixpo was 87th this year after ranking in the top 100 last year as well.

A few other companies landed just outside of the top 100, including Sizmek (107th) and travel-focused ad tech company Sojern (108th).

Some marketing automation companies made the list as well, including but not limited to Act-On (22nd), Marketo (67th) and HubSpot (110th).
