Emmis Names Top Management For 'Texas Monthly,' 'Cincinnati'

Emmis Publishing, which owns regional magazines nationwide, has announced major hires for Texas Monthly and Cincinnati magazines.

Longtime Texas Monthly staffer Elynn Russell, most recently president of the magazine, is retiring. A 37-year veteran, who worked in almost every department, is being recognized with the title President Emerita. During her tenure, the magazine received three National Magazine Awards.

John Lunn, current president and publisher of Cincinnati, has been named president of Texas Monthly, replacing Russell. A 15-year vet of Emmis, Lunn has worked at Atlanta magazine and later was named president and publisher of Cincinnati in 2010.

Ivy Bayer will replace Lunn. Director of advertising at Cincinnati, Bayer has been named publisher of the magazine. She joined the Cincinnatisales team in 2004.

Finally, Texas Monthly publisher Amy Updegrove has resigned her post, effective immediately. Previously, Updegrove was Emmis’ vice president/group publisher of national sales and publisher, LosAngeles
