MRY's Cedric Devitt Jumps To Big Spaceship

In 2014, digital creative agency Big Spaceship increased revenue by over 20%, created its first international presence (Seoul, South Korea), and brought on new clients, including Seoul-based Samsung Mobile, Nestle Purina, Google Play and Organic Valley.

Now, the digital creative agency has hired Cedric Devitt for the newly created position of Chief Creative Officer to help manage its recent growth. Devitt, who starts March 9, will be responsible for the agency’s creative output across marketing communications, product and social. He will report to CEO Michael Lebowitz and oversee all discipline leads in tandem with Lebowitz and Managing Director Rob Thorsen.

“Our clients are asking us to take on a more central role in their overall efforts," says Lebowitz. "Cedric’s experience across traditional, digital and social is critical to meeting the expanded challenges and leadership role being asked of us, while maintaining our philosophy and culture.”

Most recently, Devitt served as CCO of MRY and was responsible for the creative output of the agency across North America, Europe and Asia. Before LBi acquired MRY in 2013, Devitt spent  three-plus years  at LBi in creative leadership roles, including CCO and executive creative director. Earlier, he worked at TribalDDB Worldwide and Grey.

Big Spaceship executives said they knew they needed to find somebody who could help them sharpen the agency's core work, fusing each of the agency’s practice areas together in new and unique ways.

“Cedric’s diverse experience mirrors our evolution here at Big Spaceship over the past 15 years," said Thorsen. "We’ve got a unique structure that allows us to evolve and stay flexible, which is not an easy fit for everyone. But Cedric fundamentally understands our approach and our culture, which is why he’s an ideal fit to lead creative problem solving for our clients and to rally our entire crew together around each and every challenge.”
