Digital consultants Omnigon last week released its 2015 Rugby World Cup mobile app in time for the beginning of the competition last Friday.

Though rugby is not a major U.S. sport, it has intense fan support worldwide, with 80 countries competing for this year’s Cup, and viewers in more 205 nations worldwide. The 2011 Cup had four billion viewers. Only a handful of sports events are larger.

The new app features live match audio streaming, video highlights, expert bloggers, and a package of stats, including social media rank of each team. In addition, the RWC2015 app allows in-venue messaging and a social media hub. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, and Japanese, and provides specific location-based notifications to the app user. It’s available for iOS and Android smartphones.

Omnigon provides technical and creative solutions for clients, many of them sports related. Its roster includes World Rugby, AS Roma, Arsenal FC, PGA Tour, NASCAR, USGA, Fox Sports and Fox Broadcasting, the Miami Heat, CONCACAF and Sporting News.
