FCB Rainmaker Chris Shumaker Upped To Global CMO

Interpublic Group’s FCB has promoted Chris Shumaker to Global CMO, the agency confirmed Friday. He’ll continue to report to the agency’s Global CEO Carter Murray.

Shumaker, who joined the agency in 2013, has been CMO for the North America region and is credited with helping the agency win a pocketful of new business, including assignments from Fiat Chrysler, Samsung, AB InBev, Humana, Lincoln Financial Group and most recently the appointment by Clorox as lead agency for its home care products division.

Shumaker is now tasked with leading the effort to grow FCB globally as well as forging relationships with new and prospective clients worldwide.

“Chris understands new business better than anyone I know,” said Murray. “He has helped build a best-in-class new business team and infrastructure that have generated significant momentum for FCB. With recent wins, especially Clorox, the time felt right to expand his responsibilities.”

Prior to FCB the newly appointed Global CMO was a rainmaker for a number of agencies including The Martin Agency, also part of IPG, where over nine years he led teams that reeled in clients such as UPS, Olympus and Kellogg’s.  As EVP development at Grey Worldwide he helped win the Land’s End account and reposition the agency. He also brought in millions in new business while serving as CMO at Publicis USA.
