2 Ogilvy Vets Are Now Doing 'Something Different'

Two Ogilvy & Mather veterans recently left the WPP shop and have formed a new Brooklyn, NY-based boutique called Something Different.

Tommy Henvey is Chief Creative and Partner at the new agency and Patti McConnell is Managing Partner. They’ve already landed Hewlett Packard Enterprise for what they are calling a “long-term assignment” and are pitching business from several other undisclosed brands.

The duo plans to keep the agency’s overhead to a minimum by hiring freelancers on a project basis.

“Clients are looking for a different way to get things done, that’s why there are a billion new places popping up, trying to figure out the best way to do it,” says Henvey.  “We figured a billion and one might be the magic number.”

Adds McConnell: “We love to make things. When clients get in the bunker with us, they can count on us being brutally honest, probably cursing too much and getting it done right.”

McConnell is a 15-year Ogilvy veteran, most recently in the post of executive producer, North America. Earlier, she held executive producer roles at both J. Walter Thompson and BBDO.
