A+E Networks Ups Amanda Hill To CMO

A+E Networks has promoted Amanda Hill to chief marketing officer. Hill was chief creative officer, as well as overseeing A+E Networks’ international marketing, communications and programming teams. She came to A+E four years ago.

Her new responsibilities will include the management of marketing that supports A+E Networks’ portfolio of brands and businesses, including brand strategy, consumer and business-to-business marketing and all creative executions.

She will look to expand A+E Networks' brands across all platforms -- from linear television to direct-to-consumer to OTT and digital. Hill will report to Nancy Dubuc, CEO for A+E Networks.

Before coming to A+E, Hill was chief brands officer for BBC Worldwide from 2003 to 2012. Previously, Hill worked across L’Oreal for its FMCG brands.

In the most recent July period in the U.S., A+E Networks’ total Nielsen C3 ratings -- the prime-time average commercial ratings plus three days of time-shifted viewing -- was down 9% to 1.16 million 18-49 viewers. This compares to the cable network industry average of dipping 7% for that that month.

Total day C3 ratings were down 10% for July for 18-49 viewers, with the cable network industry average sinking 4% for the month.
