Marketers are optimistic this year, 36% very much so, judging by State of Sales and Marketing, a study by Pipedrive.

But some are worried. They fear:

  • Losing my job or business — 18%
  • Missing my goals — 41%
  • Budget cuts in my department — 8%
  • Losing colleagues due to layoffs — 7%
  • Limited career opportunities — 14%
  • An increased individual workload — 29%
  • I’m not concerned — 24%
Those surveyed most fear:
  • Losing my job or business — 28%
  • Missing my goals — 53%
  • Budget cuts in my department — 17%
  • Losing colleagues due to layoffs — 21%
  • Limited career opportunities — 31%
  • An increased individual workload —54%
  • I’m not concerned — 8%
  • Within the current recession, my company has invested more in technology — 69%
  • Within the current recession, my company has invested less in technology than in previous years — 58%
The study also found that although “the majority (63%) of respondents claimed that the companies they work for grew more in 2022 than in 2021, the percentage of year-on-year growth has decreased from 71% in 2021.

Smaller companies were especially affected, with a clear correlation between company size and employee success.
